Asia-Africa Youth Congress 2021, Awaiting Youth Contributions to Become Problem Solvers
Jakarta, Indonesia – Chairman of the Committee for the 2021 Asian-African Youth Congress (Asian African Youth Government 2021) Respiratory Saddam Al-Jihad revealed that the momentum for the meeting of young people from Asia and Africa on 16-19 December 2021 in Bandung will discuss various contemporary issues faced by good countries. in Asia as well as in Africa.
“Today, in the 4.0 era and entering society 5.0, we are faced with complex problems such as humanitarian crises, unequal education, poverty and hunger that are still rampant. Conflicts or wars still occur at some point, especially coupled with the Covid-19 outbreak. the impact is extraordinary. It is important and urgent to be resolved,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday (5/10/21).
He added, through the Asian-African Youth Congress, it is hoped that youth will attend and become problem solvers in their country and in other countries. Because what happens in one country can have an impact on other countries or the international world, for example the Israeli versus Palestinian conflict, the civil wars in Syria and Afghanistan, and the Rohingya conflict in Myanmar and the Uighurs in China.
“Unfortunately, today there are still conflicts in several countries in Asia and Africa. We as Asian-African Youth must unite and uphold the spirit of the birth of the Asia-Africa Organization 76 years ago by upholding humanity or basic human rights, sovereignty, integrity, equal rights of all tribes and nations and the principle of togetherness. We, the youth, must become ambassadors of peace, and it must be a massive movement to create peace in Asia-Africa, “he stressed.
This PhD student at Nankai University, China is also worried that many countries are plagued by poverty and hunger, coupled with the Covid-19 case which exacerbates the problem.
“Our humanity is tested by poverty and hunger that hit Asian-African countries. Just imagine the highest hunger is in Asia and Africa, even the highest is in Asia, around 418 million people are hungry based on the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report. 2021 by FAO. And the 10 poorest countries are in Africa,” he said.
“The education crisis is also afflicting a number of countries in Asia and Africa, imagine that there are around 358 million children and youth who are completely excluded from education, 17 percent of the representation of all school-age children in the world. The majority of them are in South Asia, Central Asia and South Asia. sub-Saharan Africa. The education crisis has increased with the Covid-19, even in Indonesia,” he added.
In addition to the issues above, there are still a number of strategic issues that require the role of youth to be discussed at the 2021 Asia-Africa Congress. He mentioned the SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) program which consists of 17 points which are agreed upon by countries in the world, and not a few countries in Asia and Africa use the SDGs as the foundation for development, such as in the Indonesian RPJM 2020-2024.
